Born from the heart of Michigan—affectionately known as “the mitten state”—Two Mittens is a labor of love between husband and wife, each represented by one of the differently colored mittens in our logo.
Our name reflects not just our Michigan heritage, but also the warm, handcrafted nature of everything we create. Just as mittens protect and comfort hands through harsh Michigan winters, our wooden home décor pieces bring warmth and character to the spaces they inhabit.
At the center of our identity is the painted turtle—a creature that holds special significance for our founder. Childhood summers spent on Michigan lakes included the joy of discovering these colorful turtles sunning themselves on logs, collecting them for impromptu races, and then respectfully returning them to their natural homes.
